Molly Reckford and Michelle Sechser became the first US crew to win the Stonor Trophy for Women’s Double Sculls at the Royal Henley Regatta. In the final, they dispatched the Australian lightweight women’s double by 2 1/4 lengths. The regatta was not with hiccups–with Molly unable to race in the quarter finals, BRF team mate Maggie Fellows subbed in, and Michelle and Maggie won easily over Peterborough City Rowing Club to advance to the semifinals.
Meanwhile, BRF teammates Emily Kallfelz and Maggie Fellows competed in the Princess Grace Challenge Cup (Women’s Quadruple Sculls), advancing to the semi-finals before falling to the Australian National team. Next for them is a return to US soil to recharge, before the second selection camp begins to select athletes for specific boat classes to be contested at the 2022 World Championships.
